Woolfest Cumbria this weekend!

We are busy this week with final preparations for Woolfest the ‘original British Festival of Wool’! It is always a super event, so join us in Cockermouth, Cumbria on Friday / Saturday if you can, the forecast at the moment is looking good. A great summer show.
If you are coming to the show for something in particular we are taking pre-orders up until Wednesday (26th) 3pm.

We will have both Natural and Natural Black washed fleece with us at Woolfest along with our rainbow dyed locks. Ideal for spinners and felters.

Sheep are sheared during early Summer each year. Our rare breed Wensleydale fleece is then available and in high demand.

Wensleydale Sheep Coat Hanger kit

Knit your own Wensleydale Sheep Coat Hanger kit – we’ve had the hangers for sale for quite a while now but, following requests for a kit, we will be launching these at Woolfest and then they will be available in the Shop and Online soon.  The kit contain everything you need to knit your coat-hanger.

Our new Nona Knitting Kits will be available at Woolfest in our Shop and Online.

All you need to knit a Nona Hat or Jumper, designed exclusively for us by Helen Connington.

Only 2 places left – FairIsle Knitting Course
Wensleydale Fairisle knitting course

There are still a couple of places left on our Fairisle course which we are holding in partnership with knitwear designer Helen Connington.
Helen is a lifelong knitter from Hull and in 2018 won the Kirsty’s Christmas Jumper competition with her amazing beaded, lace and FairIsle creation.

In this class you will be taught the skills required to select colours and to knit two strand colour work and begin knitting your choice of either a tea cosy or hand warmers.  You will need to bring your own knitting needles. The price includes refreshments and a light lunch and sufficient wool to complete your chosen project.

  • Date and Time – Sunday 14th July 10:30 am – 3:30 pm
  • Location – Wensleydale Longwool Sheep Shop, Leyburn, North Yorkshire
  • Tea and coffee provided throughout the day with a light lunch. (Please advise of any food allergies)
  • Needles required – 3.5mm and 4mm
  • Pattern provided
  • Competence – You must have basic knitting skills
  • Price £45.00
