British Wool Week

This week sees the start of Wool Week (4th – 31st October). Down the years this event has gone from strength to strength and will actually run for the full month of October this year.

As the Campaign for Wool picture above says, Wool is Natural, Renewable and Biodegradable.
That is why we support Wool Week. As licensees our Wensleydale wool meets the British Wool Board exacting standards for content, traceability and production standards, 100% British Wool and manufactured in Yorkshire – this qualifies us to use the British Wool symbol on our wool labels and swing tags on our garments.

And here are some of the British Wool sheep models, enhanced with Wensleydale locks, that we have on display in our Shop window this month…

Bakewell Wool Gathering and other shows

This weekend we will be in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District at one of our favourite shows, Bakewell Wool Gathering! Whether spinning, felting, weaving, knitting or crochet, there’s something for all.

Make sure to book your tickets at their website, to ensure early entry, and join us at the Agricultural Centre on 9th and 10th October.  Our Shop in Leyburn will be open, as usual, during this event.

Later in the month we will be back in York Auction Mart for another In Person Yorkshire Yarn Fest on 30th October.  Again book tickets on their web site if you want to join us there!

Woolly Wash back in stock soon

Fingers crossed we will have our popular Woolly Wash back in stock soon! Keep checking the web site.

It’s a gentle machine or hand washing liquid for all your woollen and delicate garments.

There have been some ingredient supply issues which have delayed the manufacturing and restock.

Shop for Christmas!

Just a reminder that Christmas will soon be here, so shop soon while supplies are plentiful and before the busy postal period. Especially, if you want time to knit one of our buntings!

We’ve been having to work hard to keep up with demand for our new Father Christmas bunting kit, which knits 5 Santa Clauses in our Wensleydale Aran wool, with some of our washed fleece for the beards!
Thankfully, we have more kits made up again and ready to go to good homes! Buy them Online, in Store or at a Wool Show.
